I have been a tutor since 2005 and have worked with learners from kindergarten through university in math, physics, and other subjects. I hold a PhD in Physics from Oregon State University, taught introductory physics at Willamette University, have 10 years research experience focusing on the teaching and learning of physics (Google Scholar Link), and was a training supervisor at the Reed College nuclear reactor.
I also have three cats, whose names are all references to Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
I highly recommend Mike as a math and physics tutor for his exceptional patience and calm, encouraging approach. He tailors each lesson to my daughter’s specific needs, adjusting his explanations until the material truly clicks. His flexibility and genuine commitment to her understanding have made a noticeable difference in both her confidence and performance. She's always loved math, but now sees herself as a math kid, and her increased confidence and skill are proving extremely helpful in the classroom. - Elizabeth

Any individual who has the opportunity to work with Dr. Mike is very fortunate and privileged! - T. Jackson
Mike has been a great help to my son, who was struggling with AP Physics and Calculus BC. He is very patient and explains things so that he can understand. He is also very accommodating and available when needed. Would definitely recommend. - Cassandra
I use a pay-what-you-can model that helps me work students of any financial situation and volunteer at a local elementary school. Use my suggested rate calculator below to generate a negotiable hourly rate for one-on-one tutoring.
If you cannot afford the suggested rate or a rate we had previously agreed on, reach out and we will find a solution. If you are able to comfortably afford a higher rate, doing so will help me help others who cannot.
I have a $20/hr same day cancellation fee.
